Authentic Smart Arrows Expansion & Element Interactivity
Directional graphics and flowcharts require clean, unambiguous vector indicators that scale without visual distortion. Following initial user feedback on early arrow prototypes, version 5.3.3 delivered a comprehensive expansion and visual refinement of the Smart Arrows Engine. This release replaced irregular polygons and non-arrow shapes with 98 authentic, high-precision directional arrows, fully restored canvas wrapper interactivity, and organized the catalog into seven balanced categories.
The expanded 98-style gallery features 7 balanced categories of 14 arrows each, complete with full 8-handle manipulation.
Canvas Interactivity & Unified Wrapper Factory
In earlier iterations, newly inserted arrows were constructed as bare SVG elements that lacked wrapper integration, causing clicks to fall through and deselect the object. Version 5.3.3 resolved this across the core lifecycle:
Unified Wrapper Builder: Arrow insertion now routes strictly through window.createWrapper(), generating full interactive .pub-element containers with robust fallback handling.
Complete 8-Handle Resizing: Full perimeter handles (.rh-nw, .rh-n, .rh-ne, .rh-e, .rh-se, .rh-s, .rh-sw, .rh-w) allow intuitive stretching in any direction.
Integrated Rotation Stalk: Includes dedicated rotation handle (.rotate-stick) allowing arrows to be angled smoothly across 360 degrees.
Synchronous Overlay Binding: Automatically binds window.updateSelectionObserver() upon creation, ensuring amber tip handles and floating quick action toolbars appear immediately without deselecting.
98 Authentic Arrows across 7 Symmetrical Categories
Irregular shapes (such as stepped zigzags and spring coils) were replaced with clean, authentic arrow vectors. Every category is calibrated to exactly 14 styles (2 full rows of 7 in the gallery), eliminating ragged row wraps:
Block & Directional (14 styles): Standard and rounded cardinal arrows, horizontal/vertical doubles, 4-way quads, and diagonal vectors.
Notched & Shaped (14 styles): Notched, pentagon, multi-directional chevrons, stealth profiles, curved swoops, U-turns, and dovetails.
Slender & Precision (14 styles): Needles, diamond tips, surveyor pins, ball pointers, hairline drafting lines, and triangular callouts.
Callout & Stylized (14 styles): Rectangular callouts, archery arrows, wedge comics, barbed arrows, fishtails, rockets, and harpoons.
Process & Infographic (14 styles): Double/triple chevrons, capsule stems, chamfered blocks, forked branches, merged flows, and 90-degree corner flows.
Modern & Aerodynamic (14 styles): Swept wings, supersonic darts, split stems, conical missiles, flared wings, and delta wings.
Hollow & Technical (14 styles): Hollow blocks, open barbs, technical doubles, and engineering dimension markers.
Tip: Resizing an arrow horizontally or vertically stretches only the connecting shaft, ensuring arrowheads never distort or change angle.
