Native Clipboard & Scrapbook

Moving text, graphics, and full design elements across applications should be seamless. The Open Publisher V5 desktop client features an advanced clipboard pipeline that bridges the operating system clipboard with your document canvas, complemented by an automated Clipboard Scrapbook drawer that keeps your copied clips organized and reusable.

Full Canvas Element Copy & Paste

In earlier versions, copying complex elements on the canvas (such as custom shapes, formatted text frames, or nested tables) inside the desktop wrapper was occasionally blocked by browser sandboxing. V5 completely rewires the clipboard subsystem:

  • Full Element Fidelity: Copying any element preserves border radii, rotations, drop shadows, color gradients, and font families with 100% fidelity.

  • Smart Image Separation: When copying formatted text containing embedded photos or inline graphics, Open Publisher intelligently separates raw image data from typography, preventing corrupted strings or distorted data URLs.

  • Cross-App Clipboard: Text and photos copied from web browsers, Word documents, or image editors paste directly onto the canvas with intelligent formatting normalization.

The Clipboard Scrapbook Drawer

How often have you copied a design element, copied something else a minute later, and lost your original clip? The Clipboard Scrapbook solves this permanently by retaining a rolling visual history of your copied items:

  1. Automatic History Logging: Every time you press Ctrl + C on text, shapes, or pictures, Open Publisher logs the clipping into your Scrapbook drawer.

  2. Visual Thumbnail Previews: Open the Scrapbook from the Ribbon to view styled thumbnails of your past clips, complete with timestamps and content badges.

  3. One-Click Stamp Insertion: Click any clip in the drawer to immediately stamp it onto your active page, without having to hunt down the original source document.

Note: Scrapbook data is stored locally in your client cache and can be cleared at any time with a single click using the Clear Scrapbook button.
