Taskbar & OS Integration
A truly native desktop app should feel deeply integrated with your operating system rather than behaving like a website trapped inside a box. Open Publisher V5 bridges the gap with native OS taskbar animations, power management controls, and direct desktop shell utilities.
Native Recent Files dropdown and Show in Folder button alongside active OS taskbar progress indicators.
Taskbar Save & Export Progress
When exporting a multi-page document to high-resolution PDF or saving an extensive publication, you don't have to stare at the screen waiting for it to finish:
Live Taskbar Progress Bar: Open Publisher hooks directly into the Windows and macOS taskbar APIs. While saving or exporting, an animated progress indicator fills the taskbar icon in real time.
Flashing Attention on Completion: If you switch to another application during a heavy export, Open Publisher's taskbar icon will gently flash and glow when the file is ready, notifying you the instant your print file is done. Clicking anywhere in the window automatically dismisses the flash.
Power Management Keep-Awake
There is nothing more frustrating than having an active print job or lengthy batch export fail because your computer went into sleep mode. Open Publisher V5 automatically requests an OS power lock during active saves, high-resolution rendering, and booklet exports, preventing screen savers or sleep timers from interrupting your output.
Recent Files Dropdown
The top-right titlebar features a dedicated Recent Files button with a clock icon. Clicking it opens a polished dropdown menu showing your last 10 opened publications with file paths and document icons:
Automatic Tracking: Every file opened through the file picker, file associations, or Save As is automatically remembered.
Full State Restoration: Opening a file via Recent Files faithfully restores page orientations, ruler origins, margins, and spread settings.
Clear History: A clean button in the dropdown footer lets you reset your recent files list anytime.
Show in File Explorer
Located directly beside the Recent Files button is the native Show in Folder tool. Clicking this stylish folder icon instantly launches Windows File Explorer (or Finder on macOS) with your active document automatically highlighted and selected, making it effortless to attach your publication to an email or copy it to a flash drive.
Note: The titlebar utility buttons automatically collapse on narrow screens below 1040px to ensure the document title and window controls remain unobstructed.
