System Tray & Background Mode
Creative projects often involve dipping in and out of documents throughout the workday. The Open Publisher V5 desktop client features deep system tray integration, allowing the application to idle silently in your operating system taskbar without cluttering your desktop, ready to spring open instantly when inspiration strikes.

The Native System Tray Icon
When running, Open Publisher docks an official icon in your OS system notification area (near the system clock on Windows, or the menu bar on macOS). Left-clicking the icon instantly restores, maximizes, and focuses your creative workspace.
Dynamic Tray Jump List
Right-clicking the tray icon opens a professional, context-aware action menu modeled after desktop publishing standards:
Hide / Show Window: Quickly minimize the studio to the tray or bring it back into view with a single click.
New Blank Publication: Immediately launch a fresh document canvas directly from the desktop shell.
Open & Save Shortcuts: Trigger file pickers or commit an instant save without bringing the main window to the foreground.
Recent Publications Submenu: A synchronized submenu showing your most recently opened files for one-click access.
Exit OpenPublisher: Safely quits the application after running a dirty-state check to safeguard unsaved work.
Close-to-Tray Mode & Single-Instance Lock
V5 includes intelligent process management to keep your workflow streamlined:
Close-to-Tray Preference: For users who want Open Publisher running in the background all day, you can enable Close to Tray in preferences. Clicking the window close ('X') button seamlessly hides the window to the tray rather than terminating the process.
Single-Instance Protection: Double-clicking a .opub file in File Explorer will never accidentally spawn a slow duplicate instance. Open Publisher routes the file directly to your existing running window and smoothly restores it to focus.
Note: Tray icon cleanup is completely automatic. When closing or hot-reloading the app, ghost duplicate icons are never left abandoned in your Windows taskbar.
